Dr Skinner misrepresented in Birmingham Mail.

Cherrypip:
Hi,
Following on from Dr Skinner's victory last week the following article appeared yesterday in the Birmingham Mail. It seems the journalist was actually present to hear the determination!

As a follow on of the above post is an email from Afshan to TUK

Hi All

We've had the following from Afshan:

I am not sure where they have obtained their facts but it is sad that they have put such an adverse slant on Dr Skinner’s work in the article.

I am going to phone and write to express my concern that the following points have not been addressed in this biased article.

1.There is a fundamental flaw in that it is not mentioning the whole problem of non-treatment and overreliance on blood tests

2.It does not mention the over 2000 testimonials which were before the Panel.

3.There is no mention of the present medical world’s obsession with numbers and not patients under the guise of ‘Evidence based medicine’

4.It does not mention that Dr Skinner demonstrated a full understanding of the pros and cons of treatment quoting over 100 scientific publication whereas Dr Akintewe referred the Panel to Google.

5.The word unorthodox is not correct as hypothyroidism was treated on clinical signs and symptoms before blood tests were established.

6.He is one of the very few doctors who is carrying out his duties according to the Hippocratic Oath – putting patients before anything else.

7.Dr Akintewe did say that he would not treat a patient with ‘normal’ blood tests due to litigation possibilities.

Please get as many people to write or telephone the Birmingham Mail as possible. They need to get this story right and understand the patients’ point of view otherwise they will just have Gordon Skinner down as a reckless doctor who has been let off lightly. This may be the window for publicity we were looking for.

Thanks for all your help and support.

I tweaked it a bit, adding some bits of my own, and have now sent this off to Alison.

I wonder if she realises what a hornet's nest she has unleashed?

Hi Cherrypip, I too have sent an email.

Hopefully Alison will write another article with all of the true facts after reading our letters and doing a bit more research.  !"$
