avoiding foods when hypothyroid

(1/1)

jenjenjen:
Hi,

I've read quite a lot online about different foods to avoid if you are hypothyroid and I just wondered whether any of you do avoid all these foods and how you find it. Does anyone know if there is any scientific basis to these claims?

At the moment I'm vegan (was veggie for 10 years but recently stopped eating dairy due to IBS issues). I've seen a lot of sites saying you shouldn't eat most green vegetables, soy and gluten - all of these things make up a big part of my diet. Fortunately I am well on thyroxine at the moment but I am still curious!

Thanks,

Jen

Also Jen, the goitrogenic veggies are pretty much ok if you cook them, so avoid having loads of broccoli and spinach juices ;) xx
