Dr. Skinner and the GMC. Again...

I've just heard that Dr S. has been told to attend another Interim Orders Panel at the GMC in Manchester next Wednesday 22nd February. The complaints against him are from GP's who don't agree with Dr. S prescribing thyroxine ro patients when their bloods are in the 'normal' range.

Dr. S. received the letter from the GMC today, that gives him 3 days to get together his defence. I am lost for words  !!!!!

I don't think there's much we can do this time apart from turn up at the GMC building. The patients involved have all refused to give their permission for the doctors to pass on their personal details to the GMC so I don't know how this is going to work. I thought the GMC were satisfied with the way Dr S treated patients? How can they be allowed to only give him 3 days to get his case together when he was fully cleared by them just a few months ago?!!

Just unbelieveable. I really don't know what to suggest. If I hear any more I'll post again.  :)

All he's trying to do is help people.

I doubt if we wrote letter again they'd get them by next Wednesday?? Worth a shot do you think?

I've just spoken to Dr. S, to say he's baffled by all this is an absolute understatement. There's been no patient complaints at all, makes you wonder doesn't it?

He did say if anyone could possibly ring the GMC he would be most grateful. 0161 923 6602   Afshan is going to forward an email address so that we can email them directly as there's not really enough time for letter sending and I'll post that as soon as I get it.

He'll put an update on the world thyroid register page today too.

" Dr. Skinner has been asked to appear before an Interim Orders Panel at the GMC at 9.30am on Wednesday 22nd February (a day after his 70th birthday!) at the GMC Offices at St. James's Buildings, 79 Oxford Street, Manchester M1 6FQ. It would be extremely helpful if you could write in (yet again) and/or come along to the hearing. I know this is a great imposition and I am so sorry that we have to keep doing this. We are trying to get the date moved to later on as we only have 3 working days including today to get our defence together"

I'm still waiting on the email address but will post as soon as I get it. I just thought that seeing it is Dr S's big birthday it might be nice to send him a card from us? Any thoughts? If you'd like to do something then please send me a pm    :)
