Attempting to lose weight.... but not on meds yet !

(1/1)

Kathryn:
Hi everyone !
I'm new to the forum and new to learning about the thyroid so need a few tips on losing weight !
I have to go back to the Doctor for my final blood test in 3 months and then I will be put on Levothyroxine but unfortunately until then, the weight loss is all down to me.....
I have cut out sweets, chocolate, crisps (anything along those lines really) and replaced with yoghurts with muesli, fruit and cheesestrings.
I've been cooking all my teas fresh and I have been printing out recipes from BBC good food and ensuring the meal should be under 15g of fat.
I also pole dance once a week, twice if possible (I did 3 hours yesterday !) but I can't really find the motivation for other exercise.....
Does anyone have any tips for good fat burning exercises or foods to eat/avoid ?
Thanks in advance ! :D

Well, I don't feel I have a lot to say about loosing weight while waiting for the Dr to make up his/her mind if you are ill enough to get treatment. Probably there isn't a lot you can do while your body is fighting a reduced metabolism.

My advice is to go easy on yourself until fully medicated. Being hypoT means your metabolism already is way too low, so a low calorie diet will only make matters worse. And 15 grams of fat is far to little to survive on.

What you could do is go low-carb high-fat, it has worked for me. Reduce carbs to very little and have cheese, butter, cream, olive oil and such instead. But see you don't reduce calories, just carbs.

hi, I would suggest a low carb, moderate protein, high fat eating regime. it's really not not too important to do exercise as such like going to gym, aerobics...do more natural exercise, walking, housework, gardening, nothing too physical as this adds stress to the body.......Eat natural. Wholesome food and avoid sugars of any kind or foods that turn to sugar once eaten...like pasta, breads, rice, potatoes which are high starch.....coconut oil has shown to be good for boosting your metabolism...I eat about 6 tbs of it a day and I have warmed up considerably! go easy on fruits as they are high sugar and fructose, stick to berries (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries etc). Yumm, fresh strawberries with fresh cream with a sprinkling of dark chocolate 75% or more. Good luck.
