Armour availability IDIS
Dawn:
Hi folks sorry I've not been around much but still living out of a suitcase and not much access to the computer unless I can borrow one
Re Armour. I've been waiting for my prescription to be filled since last tuesday (I get mine on the NHS) the usual delays and phonecalls between my branch of boots and IDIS. I phoned today to find out where it was and on them phoning IDIS to chase up, the pharmacist was told that armour was out of stock in 120mg and 60mg so they couldn't supply it and didn't suggest other strengths they may have in
I telephoned them myself but wasn't able to get too much as I'm not a doc or a pharmacist but on telling the person that we had been told that none of the above was in stock I was informed that no one should have a problem getting other strengths to fill a prescription and they didn't know why mine was delayed
SO if you are due to have yours renewed be aware that there may be some delays and ask the doc, endo or pharmacist to tell IDIS they will accept other strengths to make it up
As i'm now completely out as my being away and not being able to get an appointment when i got back very quickly teh doc is writing em one for thyroxine in case there are other delays. i haven't been on that before so teh difference will be interesting

Hi Dawn
According to a letter that I was sent by my endo it states that you are not entitled to armour free from prescription charge. Also it costs £20 as against thyroxine which cost £1 a time. (nowonder they are trying to stop us from having armour)
She also said that she would not be prescribing me armour.
Not sure what will happen now when I go back to see her next month as again I couldn't tolerate T4 so I am taking T3 only and she says that that is not good enough.
Hope you get sorted soonest in your flat.
you can have your house warming in the lounge as that is bigger. 558

Not true. The BTA did put that statement on their website but have now changed it as many of us publicly stated we got it on the NHS and used our exemptions and if you don't get well on thyroxine and have to take other meds it's not cheaper in the end just that false economy again
Anyone have experience of changing from armour to thyroxine and if I need to lower the dose etc although I don't plan to be on it for long

Dawn,
That's a tough call, will you doc give you a prescription for some T3 aswell though?
How many grains do you usually take?
It is a shame that there isn't a stash of armour sitting somewhere.
I have just ordered some more from International Pharmacy and the highest dose available is still 1 grain,
which suits me as I am building dose up again.
I didn't realise that you had never tried levo

if you have a look at previous posts, can't remember where, of course, hypo strikes again!! but somewhere there is a chart which tells you what armour = thyroxine
hop eyou find it ok and also you get what you need soon
what do you mean "usual delays "
do Idis play up every time you need a new script or is it Boots do you think?
best
