Hi all,
just received my copy of this book which looks like its going to be really interesting. In the introduction he talks about why research papers on hypothyroidism from a Dr Sonkin ( a medical pioneer from the last century)

weren't published and this Dr Sonkin said "Because i sat in the Ivory Tower with the Mavens"Mavens are self proclaimed experts who ,in this instance, use their influence to shape the practice of

medicine.Dr Sonkins colleauges chose not to publish his research. As it is true for the human species in general:money, power, ego, and a large dose of luck profoundly influence our lives and steer the course of medical thinking."

He looks at why blood tests don't actually measure the severity of the disease in many people, the difference between what he calls type 1 & 2 hypothyroidism, environmental toxins, magnesium

deficiencies, sex hormones, why some people do no tolerate dessicated thyroid products, adrenal insufficiency etc.

He follows the same paths as Dr S & Dr P and Dr Broda Barnes...and he is hypo himself

If any one gets a copy let me know what you think

I purchased a copy of this book some time ago and found it to be very interesting as far as I read.  Unfortunately i developed
visual problems when only halfway through, and have been unable to continue reading.  However it remains at my bedside
ready to pick up again as soon as I am able.

I think it is well respected among the thyroid sufferers.

Hi Floss,
i have read some of it last night and then bits again today and so far i'm really impressed with the content.I found the pictures of people with hypothyroidism really amazing as i'd showed these to my

Mum from a link previously and this finally convinced her to go see Dr S.I'm going to take it in to work to let one of the women i work beside see the section on heart disease as she has been back and forth to

clinics as she suffers from pains in her chest at night and her lips go blue at times. They can't seem to find anything but she finally got a copy of her blood test results and her TSH was 2.89 and her Free

 T4 was only 12 (range 9-22).

Take care and hopefully you'll get to finish the book at some point

I'm not a doctor... and I don't play one on TV! These are my personal opinions on thyroid disease and all things related.
