Hey Guys ,

Hope every1 is well and had a lovely xmas and happy new year too all! Smiley

Aint had a brilliant day today, had my first appointdment at endocrinology , it went ok and I really liked my consultant.
Basically when I first got diagonised with a thyroid problem it came back as initially over active and therefore for my doctor put me on 20mg of carbimazole a day.
However after a month of taking it , I had another blood test and it went really low again , so my doctor stopped my tablets and booked me in for another blood test which I had today before I went to my hospital appointment.

My consultant basically thinks that I was one of the small percentage of people , who initially shows signs of an overactive thyroid , however due to my sensitive reaction to carbimazole , shows that is most likely an underactive thyroid.
So the state of affairs that currently exist , is that my doctor is going to ring me once the results of the latest blood test and we will basically take if from there. Following on from this my consultant wants me to come back for further blood tests due to my large family history of auto immune diseases  and I will go back and see him in the next month or so.
Finally I will also go and see my gp! as if my thyroid is underactive my doctor will start me on thyroxine haha

But the reason I feel so down , is that I just feel like absolute rubbish, I feel really exhausted but I honestly dont feel like I can sleep and I am continually rushing the loo and just feel majorly stressed and to be honest its a right pain in the back side , as I am in my second year at uni and I am also trying to secure a years work placement but half the time I feel rubbish!

Hope somebody reads this , as advice would be really appreciated :D

Rant over haha

Hey ad606,

I'm sorry I don't have enough knowledge to comment too relevantly, but sorry to read your tale.

Is the endo really aware of unwell you're feeling, would it help to write to him to support any discussions had at the appt?

You're at an important stage of your life, and need adequate understanding and medicating to feel well enough to complete your course successfully and well as feel better on a day to day basis.

Hopefully the blood work will inform the situation for you.

Bye for now, take care.

606

Pleas post your results ASAP.

Sending you some

Its very difficult because Hypo and Hyper symptoms can overlap, so we really do need those results.

Steff.
