Dr Skinner's Fitness to practice hearing

Dear All,

Dr. Skinner's Fitness to Practise hearing starts on Monday 2nd July  in Manchester, for approximately two weeks. This is the hearing where all the 'evidence' will be aired and at long last Dr. Skinner will be allowed to speak.

I know how grateful he has been for all the testimonials sent in for the IOP hearings, but would you mind now sending them in for the FTP.

Jim came up with the idea of photos attached to the letters, ie before and after shots.  I know how old and ill I looked before treatment with thyroid medication and that also applies to my daughters, although not necessarily the old bit!

Also, I thought we could get members of family and friends to write in with their stories about us, the victims. Particularly close members of the family who have seen us suffer and of course they have suffered too.  Keeping together a marriage when you feel like death is not easy and I know my husband has earnt millions of Brownie points for his patience over the years. I have discussed this idea with others and we seem to be in agreement about this angle of the argument.  Until now, it has just been the patients writing to the GMC.

Any other ideas would be very welcome especially as there is now less than 3months before the hearing.

I have received the following from Lyn Mynott of Thyroid Uk who has been asked to coordinate teh rota of people attending so that they can make sure that Dr Skinner is supported each day please support him if you are able this could make or break how we are treated, many Dr's who would prescribe earlier or prescribe armour or t3 are not doing in case this happens to them and if teh unthinkable happens then 100's of thyroid patients will be left without medication or being treated

Hi All, I've just organised with Afshan (Dr Skinner's assistant) that we will be co-ordinating a rota for people who would like to go along to the GMC to support Dr Skinner.  It would be fantastic if we could get a huge number of people attend on the first day.  If you would like to put your name down please telephone us on 01255 820407.

sorry to be so ignorant, but as i joined there were posts concerning DR.SKINNER. but i had missed the intial posts explaing what had happened,
there is a clear support of him, and admiration.
but can you tell me why he has to go through this ordeal,

basically because he is treating patients within the range who have clear hypo symptoms and various factions (the BTF included) brought a complaint that he was endangering patients by doing this. It has taken far longer than it should have to to be concluded as they cannot really substantiate things given the drop in ranges in teh US and new info coming out every day
there are transcripts on teh main site under the doctors and clinics section which gives all teh charges but it si a travesty. I've been to 2 of the earlier hearings and they have been well attended by patients much to the surprise of teh GMC. We have a few here who will be affected if he loses his licence
